Name:T421630 Perkins 400 Series Engine Oil Pressure Sensor

Product Description

T421630 Perkins 400 Series Engine Oil Pressure Sensor (Oil Sender Unit) — Also widely used in construction machinery such as John Deere, its primary function is to monitor pressure within the main oil gallery and trigger a low-pressure alarm.

I. Core Information

OE Part Number: T421630 (Perkins)

Type: Oil Pressure Sensor / Oil Sender Unit

Function: Monitors oil pressure in the engine's main oil gallery; transmits signals to the instrument panel or ECU; triggers an alarm when pressure drops too low to protect the engine.

Alternative Models: Generic oil pressure sensors compatible with the Perkins 400 Series (e.g., featuring 1/8 NPT threads and a 0.8 bar alarm point).

II. Key Parameters

Table

Parameter Specification

Measurement Range 0–10 bar (0–1.0 MPa)

Alarm Pressure 0.8 ± 0.3 bar (Low-pressure alarm trigger point)

Thread Specification 1/8 NPT (American National Pipe Thread)

Electrical Interface 1-pin / 2-pin (Single-wire / Dual-wire; compatible with various instrument panels)

Operating Voltage 12V / 24V (Universal for construction machinery)

Operating Temperature -40°C to +125°C

Protection Rating IP67

Material Copper Housing + Ceramic Pressure Chip

Net Weight Approx. 115g

III. Compatible Models

Perkins Engines: 400 Series diesel engines, including models 403D, 404D, 404F, 403C, 404C, etc.

Construction Machinery: John Deere compact tractors, excavators, loaders, and generator sets (equipped with Perkins 400 Series engines).

Others: Compact construction machinery from manufacturers such as Caterpillar, Doosan, and Hyundai (equipped with Perkins 400 Series engines).

IV. Working Principle

The sensor is installed in the engine's main oil gallery; its internal pressure-sensitive element deforms in response to oil pressure, thereby altering the internal resistance or voltage signal output.

Normal Pressure: The signal remains within the normal range, and the instrument panel displays a normal oil pressure reading. Pressure Too Low (<0.8 bar): The sensor triggers a switching signal; the ECU or instrument cluster illuminates the oil pressure warning light to indicate low oil levels, pump failure, or a blockage in the oil passages.

**Installation Guidelines**

Thread the sensor into the 1/8 NPT port on the main oil gallery; use a wrench to tighten it moderately to ensure a leak-proof seal.

Ensure secure wiring connections and verify that the waterproof seals are intact.

After installation, start the engine and observe the oil pressure gauge or warning light to confirm proper operation.

**Common Faults**

Oil warning light remains constantly lit: Sensor failure, wiring short circuit, or actual low oil pressure.

Oil warning light fails to illuminate: Sensor open circuit, wiring open circuit, or instrument cluster malfunction.

**Troubleshooting Methods**

Measure resistance with a multimeter: At idle with normal oil pressure, the reading should be approximately 50–200 Ω; with the engine off or under low pressure, the reading should be approximately 0 Ω (indicating an alarm condition).

Bypass the sensor by short-circuiting its wiring: If the warning light illuminates, the sensor is defective; if it does not illuminate, inspect the wiring and the instrument cluster.

Replace the sensor with a new unit to perform a test.
