IV. Function and Principle


Core Function: Monitors the oil pressure in the engine's main oil gallery in real-time, converting the pressure value into a 0.5–4.5V analog signal for transmission to the ECU; if the pressure drops too low, it triggers the red oil pressure warning light and limits engine power to protect the bearings. Principle: Oil pressure acts upon a ceramic diaphragm, causing a change in the resistance of a built-in Wheatstone bridge; this generates a voltage signal directly proportional to the pressure.


VI. Installation and Troubleshooting


Installation Guidelines

Install near the engine's main oil gallery or the oil filter housing.

Clean the threads and sealing surfaces; replace the O-ring with a new one.

Torque: 25–35 N·m; avoid overtightening.

Inspect the wiring harness connector to ensure there is no corrosion or looseness.

Common Faults and Symptoms

Oil warning light stays on / flashes: Low oil pressure, sensor failure, or wiring harness short circuit.

ECU Diagnostic Codes: P0520 (Oil Pressure Sensor Circuit), P0521 (Range/Performance), P0522 (Voltage Low), P0523 (Voltage High).

Engine lacks power / Speed limited: ECU has entered "limp-home" (protection) mode.

No oil pressure display: Internal open circuit within the sensor, or connector has become disconnected.

Simple Testing

Measure using a multimeter: Power supply should be 5V; signal output should be 0.5–4.5V (approximately 0.8–1.2V at idle, rising during acceleration).

Abnormal signal: Replace the sensor or inspect the wiring harness.
