Effect of Cu on Solidification Process of Al-12.7Si Alloy

Using on-line temperature measurement technology, thermal analysis method combined with microstructure observation and analysis, the effect of Cu on the solidification process and microstructure formation of Al-12.7Si alloy was studied, and the formation and growth process of alloy growth phase were discussed. The results show that with the increase of Cu content, the transformation temperature of primary Si increases gradually, the nucleation and growth time of the primary Si increases, the size of primary Si increases, and the size deviation increases; the eutectic transformation temperature of the alloy increases. When the temperature decreases, the binary eutectic transformation time is shortened, the ternary eutectic transformation time is prolonged, the growth and coarsening time of the formed phase is prolonged, and the size of the eutectic Si is increased.
