Effect of Sn on Microstructure and Machinability of Compacted Graphite Iron

Two kinds of vermicular graphite cast iron with 0.08wt.% Sn and no Sn addition were cast in the test. Their microstructure, mechanical properties and machinability were comparatively studied. The addition of alloying element Sn makes the vermicular graphite refined and distributed more uniformly, and at the same time, promotes the formation of pearlite, and the content of pearlite increases significantly.
